If you are in crisis right now
If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 999. For free, confidential support 24/7, call Samaritans on 116 123, or text SHOUT to 85258. For urgent NHS mental health advice, call 111 and select the mental health option.
You can tell us
Talking about suicide or self-harm does not make it more likely to happen, and it will not get you thrown out of our service. We would much rather you told us.
What we will do
- Take what you say seriously and stay with you in the conversation
- Talk with you about how much danger you are in right now
- Agree together what would help keep you safe today
- Encourage and support you to contact your GP, NHS 111 or a crisis service
- Where there is an immediate risk to life, contact emergency services — we will try to do this with you rather than behind your back
Why we may break confidentiality
Where we believe there is a serious and immediate risk to your life or someone else's, we may share information without your consent. We do this only to keep people safe, we share only what is necessary, and we record what we did and why.
Between sessions
We do not monitor messages around the clock and cannot respond to crisis contact outside working hours. Please use the emergency contacts above — they are staffed 24/7 and we are not. Last reviewed: July 2026.
